My Story
I started Project Elderly Connect because of my Halmeoni, otherwise known as my grandmother, who immigrated to the United States from Korea with nothing but perseverance, love for her family, and a deep hope for a better future. Growing up, I saw how much wisdom, strength, and quiet resilience she carried, even after she moved back to Korea. But I also saw how often she, and others like her, felt invisible in a world that moved too fast, spoke a different language, and rarely paused to listen. As I got older, I realized that this wasn’t just her story, but it was the story of so many elderly immigrants, living in silence, isolated by cultural and generational gaps. I founded Project Elderly Connect to change that. What began as a tribute to one woman’s legacy has become a national movement to honor, support, and connect with the elders who shaped our world, and still have so much to teach us.
